Core Leadership

Nicholas E. Wilt, CEO

Nicholas founded the Institute for Legal Integrity because he knows the legal profession from the inside after owning multiple law firms in DC as a non-attorney between 2018 and 2025. He knows where they fall short and has seen how easily “zealous advocacy” can slide into profit-first decision-making, and how often clients are left confused, overbilled, or unheard. Nicholas's work is now focused on ethics, accountability, and professional responsibility, not just outcomes. This Institute isn’t about criticizing lawyers—it’s about restoring trust in how law is practiced.

Valerie Wilt, CPA

As the Institute’s CPA and Compliance Officer, Valerie provides financial oversight, internal controls, and advisory support to ensure transparency, accountability, and responsible governance. Her role is to help structure operations in a way that is fiscally sound, compliant with applicable standards, and aligned with the Institute’s mission of integrity. Valerie believe that ethical organizations are built not only on values, but on systems that promote accuracy, clarity, and long-term trust.

Melanie Ann, Paralegal

Melanie leads a robust team of secret shoppers that evaluate firms the way real people encounter them: how they communicate, how transparent they are about fees, and whether they treat clients as people or profit. She knows the legal profession well enough to recognize ethical shortcuts, and she cares enough about clients' futures to call them out. Melanie believes her role isn’t about criticism—it’s about accountability, higher standards, and restoring trust where it’s been lost.
